Donald Trump’slawyer Alina Habba has come under severe flak over her comparison of the former United States president’s arrest to that of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur.
In a video that has been widely circulated online, Alina could be seen comparing the former president’s arrest to that of Tupac Shakur in 1994. The comparison provoked great outrage online, with many, including the late rapper’s sister Sekyiwat Shakur condemning it.
Alina had claimed that Trump’s arrest would merely boost his popularity just like Tupac’s arrest had boosted his popularity back in the 1990s. The supposedly harmless comparison ignited fire across social media.
According to Sekyiwa, there is no basis for comparison because Tupac took responsibility for his sexual abuse trial back then while Donald Trump has refused to do the same. Verbatim: “My brother was measured by his integrity, his principles and personal and collective responsibility.”
Trump, who is eyeing the presidency in 2024, has been of particular interest recently because of his desire to run for the top job again after initially losing to the current president. While some Americans consider him a divisive personality, others say he is the charismatic leader that Incle Sam actually needs. It remains to be seen if he would still make it to the White House.
