Dr Malinga is the name on many lips following his performance at the ANC’s 112th-anniversary celebration held at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. Videos of the star thrilling the audience at the event have dominated social media, and fans have criticized the singer for performing at the event.
The reason for the criticism is because, in the past, Malinga had stated that he would not support the political party. Briefly News reports that he highlighted “the lack of service delivery, especially in communities like Hammanskraal where residents had to deal with contaminated drinking water for years.”
While some fans have taken to the X app to criticize him for reneging on his words and performing for the ANC, some have spoken out in support of the star. According to them, he needs to make money to provide for his family, especially after his troubles with SARS.
@MightiJamie reacted to the videos, “He is an example of how these old political parties stay in power. Many people forget how hungry and angry they were when the short-term deposit is made.” @MrMagong wrote, “Every artist has a price I guess.” @AfricaBegreat replied, “They gonna send SARS after him again.”
Dr Malinga does not listen, he will come back crying on our screens if the ANC does not pay him and he goes into debt again.
