Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Father And WWE Legend, Rocky Johnson, Dies At Age 75

Rocky Johnson has died on Wednesday at the age of 75. He had won the WWE tag team championship, becoming one of the first African American tag team to claim that prize.

Former WWE Hall of Famer and WWE tag team, Rocky Johnson, has passed away at age seventy-five. The news was confirmed by WWE on Wednesday, January 15.

Wayde Douglas Bowles, popularly known as Rocky Johnson, is the father of Hollywood megastar, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and former WWE world champion. He had trained his son to wrestle and become a success.

WWE had confirmed the unfortunate news as they gave their condolences to The Rock’s family through a statement.

The statement read:

WWE is saddened to learn that Rocky ‘Soul Man’ Johnson (born Wayde Douglas Bowles), a WWE Hall of Famer, former World Tag Team Champion, and father of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, has passed away at age 75.

In 1964, Rocky Johnson started wrestling and strove to become a top wrestler. He also challenged for the NWA world’s heavyweight championship. He is also a two-time champion of the NWA television championship.

Dwayne Johnson won several championships as he spent most of his career at the National Wrestling Alliance. He was popularly known as ‘Soul Man.’

Rocky Johnson retired in 1991 and he still made a major contribution to the wrestling world. He trained Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson inside the squared circle as he worked with Pat Patterson, his fellow WWE Hall of Famer.

His son, The Rock, became a notable figure in Hollywood and inducted Rocky Johnson in 2008, into the WWE Hall of Fame.
