It’s just months to 2024, another election season in South Africa. And, already, the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is brimming with plans for the Rainbow Nation. Part of its plans, if it should get to power next year, is to arrest and lock up all the corrupt officials of the currently ruling African National Congress (ANC).
The EFF recently clocked 10. To celebrate its anniversary, the party organised a rally at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, where the party leader Julius Malema delivered a speech.
Known for his fiery speeches and lethal delivery, Julius Malema displayed the same energy at the stadium as he addressed party faithfuls. He promised that when the EFF takes over in 2024, the party will fight corruption, lock up all corrupt ANC leaders, provide free education and deliver South Africa from the spectre of load shedding.
Load shedding is one of the biggest problems in the country right now. It is affecting thousands of businesses across the country, some of which had had to fold up as a result.
Well, will the people eventually vote for the EFF? That is unclear right now, but it will be interesting to see what the EFF does with political power if and when it eventually gets it.
