Elon Musk Replaces Jeff Bezos As Second Richest Man

Tesla’s Elon Musk has replaced Amazon’s Jeff Bezos as the second richest man in the world.

It is truly as battle of the richest as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos go head-to-head for the title of the second richest man in the world. Of course, all we can do is watch.

Elon has claimed the coveted spot with staggering wealth at £147.7 billion (R 3,450,945,512,000.00), reports The South African. The News writes that this was influenced by a £10.3 billion (R 240,550,057,041.00) surge in stocks.

Bezos was bumped down to third place as his net worth balances at an overwhelming £141.8 billion (R 3,313,008,110,000.00). This shows an increase of £855 million (R 19,974,877,872.30).

The publication also reports that Bezos briefly outpaced Musk in March this year, after offloading 50 million Amazon shares. The move is said to have reaped a £6 billion (R 140,200,403,280.00) windfall.

Unmoved at the top where he’s been for a while is Bernard Arnault, the chairman of luxury LVMH. The LVMH empire is said to command a wealth of £153.8 billion (R 3,594,868,908,000.00). Forbes reports that it experienced a minor dip of £2.2 billion (R 51,436,074,932.00).

Musk may yet reclaim the top spot as he’s only £3.9 billion (R 91,182,015,756.00) shy of doing that. Forbes India reports that he commands a 20.5% stake, and his recent visit to China propelled Tesla’s stocks to new heights.
