Elon Musk’s Neuralink Under Investigation For Animal Testing

The controversies continue for Elon Musk, the “troublesome” billionaire whose company Neuralink is currently facing investigations over alleged animal abuse.

Neuralink Corp, launched in 2016, is developing a brain implant that could potentially give man superhuman powers. Musk had reportedly given his time a timeline to get regulatory approvals for human clinical trials, which have not been met.

A report by Reuters indicated that the investigation into the company was provoked by no other than staff within the company, who claimed that animal testing is being rushed, leading to needless suffering and death.

According to Reuters, citing sources familiar with the case, Neuralink has killed about 1500 animals, including sheep, monkeys and pigs, since 2018. To be clear, the number does not necessarily indicate wrongdoing.

At the time of writing, Elon Musk, who recently bought Twitter, was yet to comment on the controversy, despite it being an active subject on the platform.

The Tesla boss has been an object of great scrutiny after purchasing the microblogging platform and bringing back some of the people who were either previously banned or suspended from the platform.

It remains to be seen how he would handle the latest controversy involving Neuralink and what the outcome might be.
