“Fela In Versace” rapper AKA is one of the songsters unimpressed by the crisis in Nigeria which has led to the shooting of unarmed protester, and the silence of the African Union, a body formed to defend the collective interests of the continent.
Nigeria is currently experiencing political unrest following the pouring into the streets of unarmed protesters demanding reforms in Nigeria Police Force and the disbanding of an arm of the force called FSARS (Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad), which is particularly notorious for killing rich, young people without a formal court charge.
The protesters are using the hashtags #EndSARS and #ReformThePolice to channel their grievances.
AKA has been one of the most vocal in the support of the #EndSARS cause. And in one of his angry moments he had described the African union as ineffectual while implying absolute power has corrupted the union.
In another tweet, he wondered why the Nigerian government led by Muhammadu Buhari has no regard for human life. He described the whole exercise as insane and described this moment in our history as equally insane. Check out his tweet below.
