Enterprise Minister Pravin Gordhan Confirms Andre De Ruyter Spoke About Corruption At Eskom

As the battle for the soul of South Africa’s power Utility Eskom continues, the country’s enterprise minister Pravin Gordhan has confirmed that Eskom’s former CEO Andre de Ruyter indeed spoke to him about corruption by a top government official at the company but failed to provide evidence.

The ninister’s reference was to the interview the formwr Eskom CEO granted last week in which he had claimed that some ministers in the government were part of the crisi Eskom was facing because of their corruption.

Gordhan cliamed that de Ruyter merely made allusions to some government officials awithout adequate evidence and the law cannot act on allusions. He sid that the government cannot rely on rumour and suspicion to make a decision regarding the ailing power utility.

Eskom has come under severe flak recently over load shedding, wwith many complaining that it is seriously affecting their business and has even forced some of them to close shop. Among those who have complained so far is the celebrated media personality Tbo Touch.

Well, it remains to be seen if Gordhan would get the hard evidence he is expecting regarding the alleged corruption at Eskom and why the comay has failed to live up to expectations.
