Football has often been described as a language and one that provoke amity among people who have the same interest. While you might not agree with that narrative, it shouldn’t be difficult convincing you that some football fans are pretty dedicated and can go wild when their teams triumph.
At any trate, this much played out recently following the thrashing of Mamelodi Sundowns by rival side Orlando Pirates. Both highflying teams had faced off at the Peter Makoba Stadium in the MTN8 semifinal, which the Pirates won.
Unable to contain their joy after the final whistle, jubilant Orlando Pirates fans had stormed the pitch to celebrate their team’s victory. That wild, celebratory moment was captured on video, which you can check out at the end of this post.
With their victory over Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates will now face AmaZulu for the final. AmaZulu had faced Pirates’ archrival Kaizer Chiefs. However, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, enough to give AmaZulu a leading chance into the MTNa final for the first time in exactly 46 years.
Now, beating Orlando Pirates in the final will be the ultimate triumph for AmaZulu. But will they pull off that coup when they meet? Stay tuned.
