Famous Congolese Musician Tshala Muana Dies

Popular Congolese musician Tshala Muana has died. She was best known for her hit song “Karibu Yangu”.

Muana, whose official name is Élizabeth Tshala Muana Muidikay passed away at the age of 62 in the early hours of Saturday morning, December 10 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. Her spouse Claude Mashala confirmed her death in a Facebook post.

“In the early hours of this morning, the good Lord made the decision to take over the national Mamu Tshala Muana. May the good God be glorified for all the good times she has given us on this earth. Farewell Mamu from m,” he posted.

She had reportedly dies as a result of respiratory difficulties.

Muana, who was born in Kinshasa in 1958, started her career in the early 1980s as a singer and dancer in the band Zaiko Langa Langa. She released her first solo album in 1985, which featured her famous song “Karibu Yangu”. The song became a hit in Congo and the wider African continent.

Muana was an influential figure in Congolese music and was known for her powerful voice and stage presence. Throughout her career, she released more than 30 albums and was the recipient of numerous awards from the Congolese music industry.

She will be remembered for her contribution to African music and for her passionate performances.
