Fame has a way of making people love and celebrate people they would otherwise have ignored. This reality plays out again and again. It did play out a day ago for Adekunle Olopade, one of the housemates of the recently concluded Big Brother Naija reality show.
Adekunle was born on October 6, 1994. And when it clocked the early hours of October 6, his fans thronged social media to celebrate him and wish him the best going forward. In no time, the phrase “happy birthday Adekunle” started trending on Twitter.
Adekunle didn’t win the reality show for which he aspired. But that’s beyond the point. He is fortunate to have a dedicated following now, thanks to his appearance on the reality show. And although it’s now a day after his birthday, the good wishes are still popping out there.
Some of his fans are apologetic that they somehow missed it yesterday. But they can still compensate for that by wishing him a “belated” happy birthday.
