With South African hip-hop somewhat divided, celebrated rapper Yanga Chief has made an attempt to unite the house. Welcome to the world of his Famous Friends initiative, which brings key figures in the game to perform together.
The songster had shared the lineup for his Famous Friends event in a post on social media on Thursday. The lineup include several notable names in South African hip-hop.
In the updated line that was released soon after, however, the name ofThe Boy Doing Things, A-Reece, had been removed. Puzzled by the disappearance, fans of the celebrated rapper have been asking questions.
Actually there was nothing seriously amiss. Addressing the curiosity of fans on why A-Reece was no longer on the lineup, during a sit-down with Slikour, Yanga Chief had explained it as merely a question of availability.
According to him, he made serious efforts to reach as many artistes as possible. But some of them have become unavailable while some others would want to get on the next event and not the current one.
A-Reece has not spoken on why he’ll no longer be attending. But it’s clear that he and Yanga Chief are still cool. And that’s great for the culture.
