FILA Honors Biggie’s Debut Album “Ready To Die” With Brand New Collection

Notorious B.I.G (Biggie) might be gone but his legacy sure lives forever. The rapper is further remembered as FILA debuts a new collection in his honor.

The World renowned brand, FILA teams up with Christopher Wallace Estate to release a new collection in honor of the legendary rapper’s debut album, “Ready To Die”, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in September  2019.

Ready to Die is the debut studio album by American rapper The Notorious B.I.G., released on September 13, 1994, by Bad Boy and Arista Records.

The new collection tagged “FILA x Biggie collection” was inspired by Biggie and the Brooklyn street wears in 1990s. The collection includes T-shirts and Visors. The T-shirt and Visors from the collection retails at 25 dollars each, under the sport wear brand’s archive. The collection also got a sneakers line to it, which retails at 90 dollars.

We created this exclusive collection to honor a groundbreaking album, artist and pop culture icon who has left a lasting impact in the music world and beyond,” Louis W. Colon 3rd, vice president of heritage and trend for Fila North America, told WWD about the collaboration. “The era’s most iconic hip-hop stars embraced the Fila brand, with memorable looks. In 1993, Biggie took the stage in Philadelphia wearing the T-shirt and matching visor that are part of the collaborative collection today.

The Brand in honoring Biggie’s name also donated a couple of sneakers to the rapper’s Chris Wallace Memorial Foundation for every collaboration sneakers from his collection sold on the website.

The Foundation’s major aim is to give back to the society, focusing majorly on the field of early education. The sneakers will be distributed to Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, which is where the rapper grew up and spent most of his life.

In Commemoration of the rapper’s posthumous birthday, the collection will extend to various retail outlets, apart from the official website of the brand starting from Thursday, May 21st 2020. See collaboration below.
