“Change has arrived on your FNB App.” That was how the notable South African bank FNB informed users of the changes in the design interface of its app on iOS and android. It turned out it was a change many users were either not expecting or were impressed or unimpressed with. A mixed bag. This much should be obvious from the reactions to the changes on social media, especially Twitter.
In an update shared with users days ago, the First National Bank (FNB) unveiled changes to its logo and brand and a redesign of its banking app.
Speaking about the changes, Raj Makanjee, CEO of retail at the banked, noted that the changes have been made to offer “more intuitive help for ease of use and a safer digital experience.” The changes, it is claimed, were driven by customer feedback.
You asked and we listened. The FNB App 📲has been redesigned so you can personalise it to your needs and preferences. Plus, an improved search function means you can quickly find the services you need, no wasted time. https://t.co/Z1pUzFZaLA #LoveFNB#TheChangeables#FNBpic.twitter.com/EmskXDGhFh

The reactions to the changes have been pretty mixed. Some South Africans were pretty excited, while others thought the changes awful.
One particularly unimpressed user wondered what really happened to his app, asking how the app suddenly looked generic, like something one would see on a “China phone.” See some reactions below.
