James Bhemgee, former SA’s Got Talent winner, has died after a short illness; sources close to his family confirmed this.

It is another sad day in South Africa as we farewell to an incredible talent who entertained us so well. According to new reports, a former winner of the SA’s Got Talent show, James Bhemgee, has passed on after a short illness. His death was confirmed by sources close to his family.

James rose to fame in 2010 after he won the show. He had worked as a street sweeper before gaining recognition when he appeared on the hit show. An article on hdsentertainment.co.za reveals that James was first discovered by a woman who heard him singing while working as a street sweeper.

Impressed by his talent, she paid for his vocal lessons. Winning the SA’s Got Talent show, he said, “For 13 years, I’ve been unemployed. Those 13 years were the hardest part of my life. I didn’t have opportunities to sing but I never gave up on my dream. I survived. I went through very tough times but I was and I am a believer.” His first album “Vincero” was released in November 2011.
