George Avakian was a recent guest on MacG’s Podcast and Chill and spoke on, among others, his meeting with Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z, and how he held the celebrated rapper’s phone at some point to play music to guests in a restaurant.
Jay-Z had come TO SOUTH Africa with Beyoncé to perform as part of a campaign by Global Citizen. According to George, when Jay-Z stepped into the restaurant, everyone and everything stopped, including those who were eating. He, alongside the restaurant manager, wanted to get the couple into the private lounge, but they insisted they wanted to be there in the open among other guests.
When the couple came in, he decided to change the music to their tastes. Jay-Z had approached him then and asked him if he was winning.
George explained having to use an adapter to play music from Jay-Z’s Phone. Jay-Z was the one changing the music from time to time until George asked to take the pressure off him by doing that. Jay-Z agreed but let him know that he had just one chance to do that.
