Award-winning Ghanaian singer, Stonebwoy signs with Universal Music’s global Def Jam Recordings.
Universal Music Group (UMG)’s Def Jam Recordings, 0207 Def Jam, and Def Jam Africa announced the international signing of Ghanaian multi-genre artist, Stonebwoy to the global Def Jam family. According to the terms of the new deal, Def Jam Africa will represent Stonebwoy’s music across the continent, while Def Jam Recordings will be home to him in the US.
Also, 0207 Def Jam will handle his music in the U.K. According to UMG, they aim to showcase the Ghanaian star’s music across the world hence the splitting of responsibility among the label’s divisions.
While Stonebwoy has already made a big name for himself, UMG will help strengthen his legacy and take him farther. He has released his first song with the label. It is titled “Therapy”. Speaking about the signing, Sipho Dlamini, CEO, South Africa & Sub-Saharan Africa, Universal Music revealed the label’s excitement to welcome Stonebwoy to the family.
He said, “Stonebwoy is a true African talent. He works to lift the heart and spirit of those around him, whilst producing fresh sounds that keep blowing the world away. We look forward to what 2022 has in store for him.”
