The losses continue for South African hip hop as notable femcee Gigi Lamayne ditches the genre and announces the same for the world to know.
Her exit from hip hop is nothing novel, though; artists leave one genre for the other now and then to experiment and see what comes out of it. Sometimes it’s excellent, and at other times, it isn’t.
Of recent, though, the exodus has been from hip hop to amapiano, which is currently the rage in South Africa. But is Gigi Lamayne joining the amapiano crowd? Unfortunately, one cannot tell right now.
According to the “Job Woods” rapper, she’s currently in the studio with King Monada, who’s not exactly an amapiano artiste. He belongs to the bolobedu wave. You can check out her post below.
What she’s working with King Monada and other artists is indeterminate at the moment. However, as the leading South African music and entertainment blog, we are watching events keenly and will bring whatever she drops in collaboration with other artists. So you may want to follow our social media channels if you’re keen not to miss that.
Well, it remains to be seen what impact her experimental, collaborative drop will make on release.
