South Africa’s ever-vibrant podcast universe has got yet another energising addition with the coming of the Venting podcast from Gogo Skhotheni, one of South Africa’s notable sangomas or traditional healers.
Apparently, a podcast is something she had always wanted to do. And now that she has the opportunity to do it, she couldn’t be more excited. She addressed this old desire that has just manifested during a recent interview while also touching on the sangoma universe, including her fellow healer, the controversial Gogo Maweni.
The first episode of Venting aired on April 3 and was well received. In the episode, Gogo Skhotheni dwelled on several topics, from her ancestral calling right down to her feud with Gogo Maweni. It is Gogo Skhotheni as you probably never knew her.
South Africa’s sangoma universe is a pretty interesting one, and it has been snagging celebs of recent – or rather, celebs are rushing into the sangoma wave and claiming to have a calling. Among celebs who have spoken about their calling so far are ZOdwa Wabantu and Phelo Bala.
