Grammy Awards: Nigerian Star Wizkid Trends Amid Grammy Loss

Nigeria’s afrobeat champ was among those nominated for the 64th Grammy awards this year, but he narrowly managed to lose in the categories he was nominated for.

The songster had been nominated in the Global Music Album category for his album “Made In Lagos” and the Global Music Performance for his song “Essence.”

Opinions about his loss have been mixed so far. While some fans think he was robbed of the Grammy, which he “justly deserves,” others believe that, win or lose, he’s already won’t Grammy previously and will always remain one of the best voices on the afrobeat scene in Africa.

In the Global Music Performance category, Wizkid had been nominated alongside Arooj Aftab, and fellow Nigerians Femi and Made Kuti. But Aftab took home the prize.

In the Best Global Music Album category, the Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo was crowned winner.

Wizkid himself hasn’t commented on his loss, and it appears he would not be bothered about it. The last post on his Instagram page has nothing to do with the Grammys by his performance at Dreamville.

By the way, the 64th edition of the Grammy awards was held at the MGM Arena, Las Vegas, with many celebs in attendance.
