The Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award has created a segment to honour the late DMX in an upcoming ceremony that will have several of the veteran rapper’s friends performing.
Among those expected to perform at the ceremony are Busta Rhymes, Griselda, Method Man, and Swiss Beatz. Swizzz and the late DMX were firm friends and worked on several numbers until his death. So it is not surprising he should make the list of artistes to perform. The show is scheduled to hold on Sunday 27 June.
DMX was one of the key voices in American pop from the 90s the the 2000s, but his influence appeared to have declined a bit. At his death, though, he leaped once again into the consciousness of millions around the world, with demands for his music jumping more than 200 percent.
By the way, the funeral for the late hip hop champ has already been held. It reportedly cost Def Jam about $250,000. Key figures were there to honour DMX, including Kanye West, who came reportedly at Swizzz Beatz’s invitation.
