South African star, DJ Maphorisa has finally revealed why he decided to let go of Gqom music and face the emerging Amapiano sounds. The talented producer and singer made this public in a response to a fan that was asking him to put out Gqom sounds.
The fan’s tweet read:
Listen Amapiano are Great and everything but I mean Most of us Durbanites are still Gqom People, So Phori must just give us a Gqom project soon , angeke we need it @DjMaphorisa.
DJ Maphorisa’s response on that came and it was that:
Da real reason why i stopped doing Gqom is because Durban producers/djs said im not from Durban hence iam on Amapiano cause its National.
Fans are not finding that funny one bit as even a fan pointed out that his songs were always on point whenever he decided to do Gqom.
The talented DJ has collaborated with Kabza De Small on a slew of projects last year and together, they pulled of something amazing. It is rumored that they have a new project coming and fans will be excited about the prospects of that as they are very good at what they do. Their Avenue Soundscollab is proof of that.
