SA lyricist Stogie T shares why he did not reply to Big Zulu’s diss track.
Some say Big Zulu came precisely when the SA Hip Hop scene needed an awakening. He has changed the game and thrilled fans. His diss era was one of the most exciting things this year.
The 5-minute track smoked some of the most prominent artists in the SA Hip Hop scene. Several of them, including K.O, Kwesta, and Duncan, dropped replies. While everyone expected Stogie T to do so, he couldn’t even care less. The Mzansi emcee recently spoke about it in his latest interview with TimesLIVE.
He revealed the idea behind battle rap and the rules (or no rules) surrounding it. He also shared that he is more about creating a legacy and working with younger artists lately. He said, “It’s always through how you give back. I’m always excited about working with people like A-Reece, Touchline. Working with young artists and newer artists like Msaki is a great way to learn and spreading what you’ve learnt … pouring that into people’s cup. I’m a product of people who were generous to me.”
