American rapper, Kanye West, has officially been declared a billionaire. According to Forbes magazine, his sneaker line has been described as ‘one of the great retail stories of the century.’
The talented rapper cum fashion designer is reported to have a net worth valued at $1.3bn. Even though he has been classed as a billionaire, Kanye West was displeased with the fact that Forbes undervalued him.
Kanye West reportedly texted one of Forbes employees to declare:
It’s not a billion. It’s 3.3 billion since no one at Forbes knows how to count.
Forbes valued Kanye West’s Yeezy sneaker line alone at $1.26bn.
Kanye West is one of the biggest-selling and widely acclaimed artists in the hip hop scene for the last twenty years. According to Forbes, the forty-two-year old rapper and his wife, Kim Kardashian, own several properties in Wyoming and Los Angeles. He is, therefore, above his sister-in-law, Kylie Jenner, with a net worth of $1bn from her cosmetics business.
Kanye West has expressed his distaste over the article that Forbes released last year. There, they refused to claim the rapper as a billionaire.
Ye reportedly sent a text to the reporter stating that the article was a disrespectful one which was targeted at snubbing him. He became provoked when they refused to add his name to the annual billionaires list that was released earlier this month.
