Danmini Ogulu, the Nigerian singer who goes by the stage name Burna Boy, continues his musical exploits with the release of his latest album, “I Told Them.”
The album was dropped to mixed reviews, with some Nigerians criticising the songster for speaking ill of afrobeats and for always “degrading” the country before the international community with his raps about Nigeria and its people.
It turned out the criticisms had not stopped that album from having an impressive run with its streaming numbers. Multiple platforms are reporting that it has become the biggest album from the songster to date on the African albums chart on Apple Music.
By the first week of streaming, Burna Boy’s “I Told Them” had become the biggest African Album in Apple Music history by first-week streams worldwide. This milestone is especially symbolic for the songster because his “African Giant” album, a compilation affirming his creative powers as a musician as well as his place in African music, did not come close in performance.
Here, without being direct, the Nigerian musician has shown that he is one of the top creators on the continent and easily an African giant with strong musical sinews. It should be your pleasure to check out the album.
