Idols SA 2022 Top 4 Voting: Here Is What We Know

Here’s all we know about the Idols SA top 4 contestants.

The 18th season of the Idols SA contest has been incredibly entertaining. Fans and viewers of the show have made favourites out of some of the season’s talented contestants. The top 4 was announced on Sunday, 23rd October 2022, during the 15th episode, and Mzansi has shared several reactions on social media.

If you watched the 14th episode of the show last week, then you must have witnessed the top 5 contestants singing songs under the themes “Babyface’s Songbook” and “Amapiano Mzansi Hits.” Of course, it was nothing short of entertaining. Each contestant performed two songs each.

On Sunday, Mpilwenhle, Ty Loner, Thapelo, and Nozi were announced as the vocalists who made it to the Top 4. Unfortunately, Cape Town’s 18-year-old singer, Zee Arnolds, was the one who did not make it. As expected, the show kicked off with the entire top 5 performing “How Deep Is Your Love?”. Things got more intense when guest performers De Mthuda, Sino Msolo, and Da Muziqal Chef hit the stage for a performance of “Jola.” We could not stop screaming.

Everyone, except for fans of the eliminated Zee, agrees that the season’s top 4 singers look very promising. There is high hope for every one of them. They each hit the stage and performed two different songs, including New Age Mzansi hits and one song, which should have been done better by Wooden Mic contestants.

Here is everything you should know about the season 18 Top 4.

Mpilwenhle

The talented songstress was the first person to be announced. She advanced from the Top 5 into the Top 4. Of course, she could not contain her joy. Mpilwenhle hit the stage and gave a rendition of Piano star Kabza De Small and Msaki’s beautiful single “Khusela.” Everyone loved it, including Judge Somizi. He said, “what you’ve just done is honest.” You might as well say she saved the best for last because she returned to the stage later and gave a stunning performance of “Jealous” by singer, songwriter, and producer Labrinth. The audience and the judges had to give it up for her.

Ty Loner

Ty Loner was the second contestant to hit the stage, advancing from the Top 5 into the Top 4. Of course, the audience and viewers were all excited to see him. He gave a laudable performance of Musa Keys and Loui’s hit song “Selema (Po Po).” This time, JR had the exact reaction we needed. He said, “you did what had to be done.” Ty Loner, also returned to the stage for a second performance which also did not disappoint. He delivered his own rendition of American singer and songwriter John Legend’s hit song “You & I (Nobody In The World).” Of course, everyone erupted in praise.

Thapelo

The third contestant to advance from the Top 5 into the Top 4 was Thapelo. And yes, we were all happy to see him. He went for a calmer performance and gave an excellent rendition of Lloyiso’s hit song “Seasons”. Thembi Seete had the right words to make him feel like the star he is. She said, “Baby, you are gifted.” Of course, Thapelo beamed from ear to ear. He had to hear those words. Later on, in the show, he returned to the stage and gave a laudable performance of “Ndikuthandile” by Vusi Nova. Vusi would definitely have big words to say about that.

We might also agree that Thapelo had the night’s most talked-about performances. Somizi’s comment that his performance of “Seasons” was better than Lloyiso’s did not sit well with the fans.

Nozi

Nozi hit the stage as the last singer to advance from the Top 5 into the Top 4, rounding out the lineup. The talented singer brought her A-game as she delivered a stunning performance of “Thando” by Afro House DJ Mvzzle featuring Zammy. She returned in the show’s second half to give a splendid performance of “Listen” by Grammy-winning American singer and songwriter BeyoncĂ©. JR encouraged her to not change her game plan.
