Imminent Legal Woes For Makhadzi As Show Organisers Demand R159k After No-Show

Popular Venda artist Makhadzi is being sued for collecting money but failing to show up for a performance.

The songstress was reportedly booked to perform at the all-white-themed party held at Malapile Park in Rathoke in December 2021 but failed to show up after Open Mic Productions, the record label to which she’s signed, had been paid R70k.

Apart from the payment made to the record label, Paledi Events Management also cited other costs it incurred to get the singer to perform, including accommodation and alcohol for the singer’s team.

Speaking through its legal reps, Mxolisi Kabinde, Paledi Events Management has given the songstress 14 days to respond to its letter of demand and payment of R158 750. Failure to do that, it said, would result in severe legal consequences.

Interestingly, two months earlier, in May this year, Miga Events had called out the songstress for not showing up for an event for which she was booked. Makhadzi had been booked to perform at a wedding, but her team called to say she would only arrive the next day (when the wedding would have been over). The host bid her not to bother coming since the wedding would be over then.

Makhadzi is one of several musicians who have been called out for not showing up after collecting payment.
