Intellectual Rights Violation: DJ Maphorisa & Kabza De Small Slammed With R1M Letter Of Demand

DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small have been slammed with a letter of demand by an event organizer who claimed the two stole his intellectual property.

Thabiso Tshabalala is claiming that Scorpion Kings Live At Sun Arena was stolen from him by the two, who are collectively called the Scorpion Kings in reference to their project of the same title.

According to Tshabalala, who happens to be an executive producer of The Braai Show With Cassper, he had approached the two musicians with the idea for the show to be hosted on January 4, 2020. He already had sponsorship for it at The Sun Arena. They also agreed to share the proceeds from the event equally, which amounts to about 33% each.

Two years later, he said that he was shocked that the two musicians had gone ahead with the show without giving him credit for it and without compensating him as the idea was his. Now, he’s slammed the duo with an R1 million letter of demand.

But will they pay him?

At the time of writing, neither DJ Maphorisa nor Kabza De Small had responded to his claims. It remains to be seen where the case will lead to. Stay tuned.
