Is Cassper Nyovest Owing The Mahotella Queens?

Family Tree boss Cassper Nyovest has been accused of not paying the legendary group Mahotella Queens the royalties due them, as well as not commiserating with the group after it lost one of its members.

Cassper Nyovest had co-opted the all-lady group on the 2015 hit song “Malome,” and even invited the group to perform during his #FillUp campaign of 2018.

However, speaking at the funeral of Nobesuthu Mbadu, a member of the Mahotella Queens who died of kidney failure recently, Veli Shabangu, a producer for the group, had accused Cassper Nyovest of disrespecting the group by not paying them their dues.

Out of the country, he claimed the group is treated like royalty but the “Amademoni” choose to disrespect them. He also regretted that Cassper Nyovest had not reached out to the group after Mbadu’s death.

He ultimately threatened legal action should the group not receive royalties for the “Malome” collaboration.

Cassper Nyovest is currently out of South Africa, and last we checked, he had not responded to the allegations. Anyway, we’re following the story keenly and would share new details as they drop.

Well, what do you think of claims Cassper Nyovest is owing to the group? You’re welcome to share your thoughts below.
