Is Emtee “mismanaging” upcoming artist Flash Kumkani’s career? This has been the verdict of a fan who goes by the Twitter handle @Massiv_Sound.
According to the fan, Emtee claimed to have signed Flash Kumkani to Emtee Records, yet the music video of Kumkani’s song “Umhluzi” appeared on both Emtee Records’s YouTube account and that of Kumkani. He wondered if it was a sign of bad management.
In response, Emtee rebuked the tweep, asking him to get off his member. He however, indicated that although he runs the record label, he allows his artistes have 100 percent rights to their songs.
By the way, long before the issue of Flash Kumkani’s management popped on Twitter, Emtee had indicated he is more interested in and concerned with producing music and not in managing anyone. In fact, at some point, via Twitter, he had reached out to radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo, asking him if he can manage an artiste.
In a sense, then, it is surprising he should elect to sign an artiste to Emtee Records.
