The new e.tv series “Isiphetho: Destiny” has reportedly dethroned “Scandal!”
We might be witnessing a new favourite show rise to dominance on the e.tv channel. According to The Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA)’s April figures “Isiphetho: Destiny” beat the channel’s longest running soapie to claim the third most watched spot.
The figures reveal that “Isiphetho: Destiny” received over 3.95 million viewers, while “Scandal!”pulled in a total of 3.8 million viewers. The telenovela produced by Black Brain Pictures is reported to be the third most-watched TV show on e.tv while Ochre’s popular soapie comes in at number 5.
It isn’t that much of a surprise seeing that “House of Zwide” remained the most-watched TV show on the channel with 4.8 million viewers. “Isitha: The Enemy” comes in at second place with 4.4 million viewers. Also, the figures reveal that “Smoke and Mirrors” starring Hlomla Dandala as the new Caesar and Ayanda Bandla appears in fourth place with 3.92 million viewers.
“Scandal!” is reported to have lost viewers when “Skeem Saam” debuted on its new 19:30 time slot. It also lost its usual first position in March, a month before Isiphetho: Destiny aired on the channel in April. Now, with 3.8 million viewers, it is down to the fifth spot.
