Jabu Mahlangu Slams Zizi Kodwa’s Actions

Former Orlando Pirates player Jabu Mahlangu has slammed Mzansi minister Zizi Kodwa for his change room antics.

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, has stepped on many toes with his Bafana Bafana pep talk after the team’s loss to Mali last week. The team started poorly at the 2023 AFCON Tournament in Ivory Coast after losing to Mali. Fans dragged them all over social media.

However, they have had an impressive run recently and made their fans proud. On Sunday, 21 January, they exited the field with a 4-0 victory against Namibia, and Mzansi could not hold their joy. After a video of Zizi Kodwa providing moral support to the team went viral, Mahlangu shared his thoughts on it.

He questioned the minister’s timing and said it was a moment for the team to reflect on the match with their coach. He said,

“As a former player, after a defeat, no one has time to listen to what other people are saying. I doubt anyone heard what the minister said. We’d rather listen to our coach and nobody else.”

He also said it would have been best if Kodwa addressed the team the next day, “maybe at a hotel, without cameras.”
