Japanese dog In Elon Musk’s ‘Doge’ Meme Dies

The Japanese dog know for Elon Musk’s ‘Doge’ meme has reportedly died.

According to a shared update by the owner, the famous Japanese dog whose photo inspired several online jokes and the $23-billion Dogecoin cryptocurrency by Elon Musk died on Friday, May 24. E.vnexpress shared a report that Atsuko Sato wrote on her blog,

“She quietly passed away as if asleep while I caressed her.” Sato also thanked the fans of her shiba inu called Kabosu for all their love and support.

Reminiscing on her time with the beautiful and happy dog, Sato wrote, “I think Kabo-chan was the happiest dog in the world. And I was the happiest owner.”

Because Kabosu was a rescue dog, her real birthday was unknown. However, it was often celebrated in November. Sato estimated her age to be 18 when she died. The publication writes that this is past the average lifespan for a shiba inu.

According to the report by E.vnexpress, Sato became Kabosu’s owner in 2008, after she adopted her from a puppy mill where she would have been put down. She is said to have shared a picture of the dog (beguiling look in her face), with her paws crossed on the sofa, two years after in 2010 and it went viral.
