Shawn Carter, the American rapper long famous as Jay-Z, has just pulled off a great career milestone. Earning 10 multi-platinum albums is not a record one sees every day, but the songster has just achieved that – the first male black recording artist in history to do so.
Given how much he has achieved as a musician, it is pretty easy to lose sight of the fact that he didn’t come from the top. On the contrary, he was more of a “street voice” who plodded his way to the top. Today, not only is he one of the most successful musicians alive, he is a successful entrepreneur with a billion-dollar net worth.
Jay-Z’s recent milestone was recorded when his 2009 album “Blueprint 3” became his 10th album to reach 2 million sales or platinum. That is pretty memorable, especially coming at a time when the songster has apparently slowed down with releases and appeared focused on other aspects of his life – especially business.
Well, coming behind Jay-Z was another equally notable voice – Eminem. The “Killshot” chanter comes just behind with an eight-album platinum record. So it takes just two records for him to make it to the same pedestal as Jay-Z.
Congratulations are in order for Shawn Carter.
