Justice Raymond Zondo Blasts Lindiwe Sisulu Over Comment On African Judges

Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has rebuked Mzansi tourism minister Lindiwe Sisulu over her comment on African judges.

The judge was reacting to Sisulu’s opinion piece, Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice?”, in which she had wondered if South Africa had seen justice. In part of the piece, she had noted that the most dangerous African s the mentally colonized Africa.

Continuing, she noted that when such are put into positions of leadership or as interpreters of the law, they become worse than the oppressor. This particular part of her piece riled Justice Zondo.

Reacting to the opinion piece, Justice Zondo, who’s chairing the state capture inquiry, described the piece as an insult to the justices of the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA), judges president of all divisions, and all African judges of this country.

While he described Sisulu’s piece as insulting, he also noted that it’s poor in substance and bereft of analysis.

By the way, the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has joined the fray. The red beret collective described Justice Zondo as “attention-seeking,” noting that Sisulu “factored in the shortfalls of the judiciary in economic, social and political change in the country.”

Sisulu is said to be consulting her lawyers after Justice Zondo’s rebuke.
