JusticeforAKA: Police Share Details About Slain Rapper’s Murder Investigation

The South Africa Police Services (SAPS) has given some details into its investigation of the murder of celebrated rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.

Since AKA’s assassination last month, pressure has been mounting on the police to fish out the rapper’s killers and prosecute them, with tweeps trending the hashtag #JusticeforAKA to keep the case alive.

In a recent update, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi noted that the case is ongoing, taking shape and that members of the public are encouraged to turn up with whatever piece of information they know would help in unravelling the “Fela in Versace” rapper’s killers.

He pointed out that the CCTV cameras which are currently helping the investigation were not installed by the state but by a private establishment. And they have been relying on those cameras to try to crack the case.\

But then, if there is something the public can share that can help the investigation, the police would appreciate having those.

By the way, AKA was killed exactly two months after another notable musician, DJ Sumbody (real name Oupa John Sefoka) was gunned down. DJ Sumbody’s killers have not been found, which is why many South African are afraid that the same might happen in AKA’s case.
