#JusticeForNosicelo: Mzansi Calls For Justice After Nosicelo Was Brutally Killed By Boyfriend

South Africans are on edge right now following the murder and dismembering of a young woman by a man she called her boyfriend.

Nosicelo, 23, said to be an LLB student at Fort Hare, was brutalized and murdered by her boyfriend Alutha Pasile (25) in what has been described as one of the worst instances of gender-based violence (GBV) in South Africa. He had reportedly accused her of cheating.

On the day of the incident, as she was being brutalized, Nosicelo had reportedly begged her boyfriend to stop as well as cried for help from outsiders. But no help came. Those who heard her scream had reportedly claimed they thought the noise was the couple’s “usual quarrels.”

It would have been live every other incident of GBV in which someone died, except that the killer chopped Nosicelo’s body into bits, packed them into a suitcase, and dumped them along Fleet Street, close to where he lives. South Africa has seen an alarming spike in cases of GBV.

On social media, South Africans are angry and have begun an advocacy, using the hashtag #JusticeForNosicelo, to ensure her murderer is punished. Among those who have joined the advocacy is “Power” singer Amanda Black.

She described herself as sick and numb over Nosicelo’s murder, which said was brutal. To her, there’s an ongoing war against women and it’s deafening. You can check out her tweet below.
