Kanye West Joins Nigerians In End SARS Advocacy

The advocacy to end the Federal Special Anti-Robber Squad otherwise called FSARS – sometimes abridged to SARS – is gaining momentum in Nigeria, with celebs across the country championing it.

The FSARS was created to combat robbery in the country. Now, members of the force are beginning to rob the youths and harass them over harmless personal choices like tattoos and dreads. In fact, to be young and rich is to be at risk of being intimidated, harassed and even shot by members of the squad.

In the warped mind of some members of the squad, every rich young man or woman is a fraudster. But that’s by the way.

Recently Nigerians poured into the streets of Lagos and elsewhere to protest the excesses of the squad. The protestors are calling for the abolition of the squad and the reform of the Nigerian police.

Artistes like Davido and Wizkid have lent their voices to this advocacy. The advocacy received a great boost a day ago when American rapper Kanye West voiced his support for the cause.

According to the “DONDA” rapper, he stands with fellow Nigerians in the cause to end police brutality in the country. You can check out his tweet below.
