It’s no longer news that Somizi Mhlongo has been dropped as one of the judges for reality television show Idols SA ―or rather, he asked to be excused from the show so he can address the storm of allegations tossed his way by estranged husband Mohale Motaung.
But who would be the best replacement for Somizi, who’s famous for his candour as well as for his exuberance? There are several polls currently active on Twitter. One such poll was started by a twitter user known as Jabulani MacDonald.
MacDonald gave four options: Katlego Maboe, Phat Joe, Kelly Khumalo Or Zonke. The responses to his poll were pretty mixed. While some suggested Kelly Khumalo, citing her impressive singer résumé), others thought Phat Joe would excel in the role as he’s no newbie to reality shows.
There were those who thought Katlego Maboe the candidate to beat, however. And yet others are of the opinion Zonke is the judge for Idols following Somizi’s exit.
Some Twitter users were unimpressed with the list from MacDonald, and they made that clear, suggesting names not already on the list, including Bonang.
Our findings show that Bonang and Zonke have the most support as replacements for Somizi. But would either snap the top job?
