In South Africa. claims or incidents of abuse are nothing novel. We hear that every other day. But, of course, greater attention is paid to such claims when they are made by a famous figure.
On this note, it wasn’t surprising that Kefilwe Mabote’s claim that she was abused by her ex-husband created so much buzz on social media.
A recent report by Sunday World gave insights into her marital woes, with the social media influencer pointing out that her estranged husband (who cannot be named for legal reasons) was abusive towards her and attempted to strangle her in the first incident of gender-based violence.
She had since filed a protection order against him. The protection order gave several instances of abuse by her husband, with the socialite claiming that in another instance of abuse, he attacked her with a screwdriver.
Part of her statement reads: “He almost killed me with a screwdriver to give him his and my car and go away without any of my personal belongings.”
The relationship is over now and she couldn’t be happier. She has the world ahead of her and is focused on her physical and mental health, working out, eating well and generally having a good time.
