Kelly Khumalo Bags Another Award Amid Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial Controversy

South African singer Kelly Khumalo continues her upward leap despite the controversy surrounding her person in the ongoing Senzo Meyiwa trial. The songstress has just bagged the Afro Pop Artist of the Year Award at the Basadi in Music Awards.

While she luxuriates in the joy of heaving being conferred with another award, her critics have been slamming the award body for conferring the award on her when she is an interested party in a murder case.

Kelly Khumalo was the girlfriend of the former Bafana Bafana goalie Senzo Meyiwa when he was murdered at her family home in Vosloorus. She was present at the time of the murder and so was her sister, Zandie, their mother and a couple of their associates.

She has, however, maintained her innocence in the whole tragedy. But some of her critics are not convinced. Some believe she has a hand in the goalie’s death and some are of the view she knows the killer and is protecting him.

Despite the controversies and the attempts to cancel her, the “Dance Comigo” crooner continues to rise – as exemplified by her latest win. Of course, she has her supporters, including those currently celebrating her latest win. But her critics are out there and loud as well.
