Kelly Rowland opens up about being overshadowed by Beyoncé for a decade while they were a part of Destiny’s Child.
Former Destiny’s Child member, Kelly Rowland is finally opening up about her experience while in the group with Beyoncé. The equally talented singer finally addressed the elephant in the room, reacting to having a more famous group mate.
She opened up after The Voice Australia contestant, Chris Sebastian spoke out about being overshadowed by his famous older brother, Guy Sebastian. Kelly revealed that she struggled with her choices for over a decade while in the group for fear of being compared to Beyoncé.
Relating to Chris’ comments, the 39 year old star revealed she constantly “tortured” herself, and said she couldn’t wear certain dresses because “they’re going to say it’s like B“.
CNN reports that she stated “I know this feeling. Can you imagine what it’s like being in a group with Beyoncé? I would just torture myself in my head.” She continued “Or, ‘I can’t have a song like that because it sounds too much like B. They’re gonna compare anyway.”
