Koffi Olomide Under Fire For Celebrating Emmerson Mnangagwa In New Song With Roki

Congolese soukus ace Koffi Olomide has drawn the ire of many in Zimbabwe following his appearance on the “Patati Patata” music video of local music sensation Roki.

In the said video, Koffi, who’s one of the most decorated Congolese musicians, could be heard spitting bars glorifying the current president of the poverty-ravished country,  Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwe hoyee! ED Mnangagwa, Number 1!” Koffi Olomide’s voice rings out in the song, much to the irritation of Zimbabweans, who think the current president inept and deserving of impeachment.

In particular, Fadzayi Mahere, a spokesperson for the opposition MDC Alliance, dismissed the whole exercise, insisting that it will not make the president popular. She said it was obvious Zimbabwe was heading in the wrong direction, and the people can see it. As far as she is concerned, the president’s “propaganda” will not work.

For his part, Hopewell Chin’ono, a Harvard-trained journalist, said the song was probably the most expensive music production in Zimbabwe but it will die because Emmerson Mnangagwa’s name was mentioned.
