KZN Spar closes temporarily after a worker tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Literally everyone in the country right now is adhering to the rules and regulations set by the government to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. A KZN Spar in Umhlali was recently temporarily closed after a worker tested positive for Coronavirus.

The worker is a staff member at Tiffany SuperSpar on the KwaZulu-Natal coast. The Supermarket was closed temporarily on Tuesday after the staff tested positive for the virus. In a statement, the owner of the supermarket, Charles Wilson said it would reopen when it was granted the permission to do so.

He revealed that they had followed the necessary precautions, checking workers’ temperatures, using masks, and even practicing social distancing. He also revealed that fellow workers who were in contact with the staff were also being tested. He said,

We will keep you informed. The health and safety of customers, the community and all staff remain the highest priority at Tiffany’s SuperSpar. Our store, along with all Spar stores, has been unfailingly diligent in implementing measures to limit the risk of Covid-19 transmission during the lockdown.

We can confirm that one staff member tested positive for Covid-19 at our store, but the rigorous preventive health and safety protocols implemented, including daily temperature checks, social distancing, the use of masks, deep cleaning, sanitiser and Perspex sheet protection at tills, have ensured that the risk of infection has prevented transmission to anyone else.”
