Labelle Singer Sarah Dash Dead At 76

Sarah Dash, a member of the RnB group Labelle, has died. She was 76.

In a recent tweet, group member Patti LaBelle confirmed the death, describing the deceased as a beautiful soul who blessed her life and the lives of others in many ways. She described Sarah as a loyal friend and a voice for the voiceless.

Sarah Dash was born in 1945. She, Patti LaBelle and Nona Hendryx linked up as a singing group and adopted the stage name LaBelle in 1971. After five years of music, during which they gained mainstream success, the group split in 1976. The band members remained friends, however.

Sarah Dash embarked on a solo career soon after during which time she worked with other artists, including the Rolling Stones. Dash’s death came as a shock to many. On social media, from Twitter to Facebook, those who knew her or were somehow influenced by her music have been sharing messages of condolences as well as memorializing her.
