The husband of the “Lady in Red,” Phimza Sigaqa, has reacted to claims of her being a Sangoma who bought Joslin Smith from her mother and boyfriend.
A recent report by The South African reveals that the husband of Phimza Sigaqa, the lady in red at the Vredenburg Magistrates Court, has slammed claims that she is a Sangoma who bought the missing child, Joslin Smith, from her mother, Kelly, and her boyfriend Jacquin Appollis a.k.a Boeta.
The publication reports that Sigaqa, Kelly, Boeta, and their friend Steveno van Rhyn are facing charges of kidnapping and human trafficking. The four are said to remain in custody and will make their next appearance in court on the 13th of this month.
In a comment to IOL, Sigaqa’s husband, Silindokuhle Bekameva, slammed claims that she is a sangoma. He said,
“My wife had nothing to do with this case; she is not friends with Kelly, isn’t a sangoma, and has never been one; she was never arrested for anything.”
His comments were seconded by Lwando Cengimbo, a fellow Diazville resident, who said,
“We know that Phumza is not a Sangoma and has never been one. The search has now been divided into Blacks and coloureds.”
