South African musician and entrepreneur DJ Sumbody might be dead, but the controversies around him aren’t over yet. His former business partner Kagiso Setsetse has just dragged his mother, Violet Sefoka, to court.
Kagiso is seeking to retrieve an R2 million Porsche Carrera from Violet. He had approached the Johannesburg High Court, seeing to take the car from her. He claimed she had ignored a written demand to return the car.
He noted in part of his affidavit: “In terms of the vehicle agreement with the company, Ayepyep Lifestyle is obliged to keep the goods in its possession and control and not sell them. I therefore instructed my attorneys to draft a letter to Violet Sefoka … for the property to be returned.”
The fight between Kagiso and DJ Sumbody’s mother came soon after his brutal murder alongside his bodyguard. DJ Sumbody was shot dead last November. Soon after his passing, fissures developed between Kagiso and Violent, as the late DJ’s mother tried to secure what was left of his assets.
In the months soon after both of them have hugged headlines with news of their fight. They had barred each other from Ayepep Lifestyle, the club DJ Sumbody used to run until his death.
It is unclear where the latest court case will lead to, but Mzansi is watching.
