In a country where rape is prevalent and those who are accused of rape and convicts rarely ever get a chance at redemption, it feels like a major deliverance when rape allegations against you are tossed in the open court.
That was exactly how the comedian Tol Ass Mo felt when Lerato Moloi’s rape case against him was dismissed in court. Lerato, an actress, had accused the comedian in 2018 of sexual assault. The case had been in court since then.
In a recent statement, though, his legal team had announced that the case had been concluded and that the comedian had been cleared of the allegations against him. His camp has been relishing the triumphant moment since.
However, according to reports, Tol Ass Mo wouldn’t just celebrate that victory but would institute a defamation case against his accuser and seek damages and compensation for the loss of income the rape allegation caused him to suffer, as well as for legal costs.
Out on social media, opinions have been sorely divided. While some peeps congratulate the comedian on his victory, others insist that they believe his accuser.
All eyes are on Tol Ass Mo at the moment and on the judiciary.
