Libs of Tik Tok Trends After Taylor Lorenzo’s Washington Post Exposé

Libs of Tik Tok is currently ringing across cyberspace after a Washington Post article revealed the identity of the person behind it — allegedly a woman known as Chaya Raichik.

Created in 2020, Libs of Tik Tok was original on Tik Tok (hence the name), but the account was deactivated and never returned. It’s currently on Instagram and Twitter and enjoys a massive following on both platforms.

The platform prides itself on bringing news that peeps won’t find elsewhere. And that’s what it has been doing since. Some tweeters would say most of the contents shared by the account are also available elsewhere, however.

Anyway, the platform has become incredibly influential, with over 685k followers on Twitter.

The platform peddles conservatives sentiments and, some critics would say, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric. In an interview with the Washington Post, the then-unnamed person behind the account had noted that she runs the account herself — with input from no one else — and that she isn’t doing it for fame.

Muck later, Taylor Lorenz, a 37-year-old journalist from the Post, would launch an investigation into the brains behind the account, eventually exposing the personal in a now-vital article as Chaya Raichik.

The exposé elicited outrage from some members of the public, many condemning her for doxxing even after stating in a tweet earlier this year that doxxing isn’t okay in any form.

So Libs of Tik Tok started trending. And so did Taylor.
