The reality show Last One Laughing (LOL) lived up to its billing in many respects, and that’s despite Trevor Noah and Nomzamo Mbatha not making it to the show due to other commitments.
At least other celebs who showed up actually put up a memorable performance, including local comedian Lasizwe Dambuza and media personality Thando “Thabooty” Thabethe.
The two were a team of sorts and they charmed fans with their chemistry. So deep was the chemistry that some SOuth Africans ran with the narrative that the two were meant to be besties.
It is not in our place to argue the verity of that narrative or not. But one obvious thing is that the two of them have agreeable and fun-loving personalities. As a result, it was easy to flow with each other and create something memorable not just for themselves but for their fans as well.
Would the story have been different if Lasizwe was perhaps paid with Ntando Duma, with whom he’s known to have a close friendship? Perhaps not. But Mzansi loves what it saw between Thando Thabethe and Lasizwe and could do with more of it.
